I studied art in Sarajevo and graduated in 1976 with
B.A. from Academy of Fine Art, where I was taught
drawing by an internationally established master of
contemporary painting, Mersad Berber,

I was teaching History of Art for 17 years in High
Education in former Yugoslavia until 1992 when the
war started. After escaping the war in 1993, I came
to London with my two daughters.
In 2001 I completed a postgraduate course
Professional Development in Painting as part of
Artists in Residence from Kensington and Chelsea
College in London. My paintings from that period are mixed
media on canvas. Images of memories, nostalgia,
people and landscape which are combined with present
moments are merging and forming a figurative vision
of blurry
past and more vivid present. Also, impasto blending
into sfumato, referring to a transparent past and
most robust present. There is always a main figure
intertwined within vignettes of collage, which are
mostly linked with the central image. These images
are as pockets of memories and present, that exist
as juxtaposition and overlap of each other.
Since moving to Ham in Richmond upon Thames in 2003, inspired by
a picturesque historical part of the area, I turn to
watercolours. I have an appreciation for structure,
but also a draftsmen’s eye for certain details on
buildings, peeling and cracking, capturing texture
and atmosphere of the places.
I am a member of Richmond Art Society,
